The ruffed grouse isn't known for being a world traveler. This particular bird will spend its whole life in a few acres on Lake Temagami, never migrating, never deciding to pack its bags and move a little way down the lake. The grouse mostly lives on the ground but is capable of making short quick flights to escape predators.
