While a moose crashes through the bush very noisily when frightened it can also pass through it as quietly as a mouse.  It lives on twigs all winter, consuming fifteen to twenty kilograms of twigs a day.  It likes to find young forest that is growing after a fire or logging, where the twigs are tender and in abundance.
